Hello,
My name is Al Kranbuhl and I have raised, trained and hunted with Airedale Terriers since I was a young boy. I also raise, train and hunt with Hounds, Coonhounds and Beagles for the most part. I also am the administrator of the Traditional Working Airedale message board and operate the Hunting With Airedales Blog.

I am located in central New York state not California, the name comes from the little farm I moved to on the California road in the Camden area. Below is a Google earth photo of the Ponderosa. Many folks when they hear I am in NY think the city but up my way it is pretty rural and I am surrounded by large woods that go for miles. When one has a farm in this kind of setting raising small animals you are ringing the dinner bell for all sorts of varmints. So this is a great place to breed, raise and train hunting dogs, it has and still does provide plenty of opportunity to test my dogs on all sorts of game.
I often get requests on the makeup of my Airedales, things like coat, size, temperament and my Airedale philosophy so I have set up these pages for some background on my own dogs. I will also post a few photos of the Airedales that went into the makeup of my line.
Another question I am also asked is if I am a breeder that actually developed and hunted my own line of Airedales or am I just someone that obtains my Airedale breeding stock from established hunting lines and ride the coat tails the breeders that did the hard work?
The answer to that question is I am a breeder that does actually test and hunt my dogs. I can also say I had to get a start somewhere so I did in the beginning and to this day still will try and obtain the best possible breeding stock available. If I believe that my Airedale's ability to hunt will be improved from an outside line I will have no problem getting good hunting dogs from other top breeders to incorporate into my line and will give credit where credit is due.
California Pete
